The Student Practices suggest that any undergraduate requests for letters for
• degrading or ‘for exceptional permission to go out of residence’
• ‘warning letters’
• Special conditions (these need to be done by January except for exceptional circumstances)
are a written request by your Tutor to your GP, and should include your consent for this letter to be written. Your Tutor will be very familiar with the procedures that need to be put in place and whether a letter is indicated.
The University will require a medical report to say that you are fit to return to your studies. You may need to obtain a report from a health professional looking after you whilst you were away from Cambridge and a report from your Cambridge GP to say that they feel you are well enough to resume your studies.
