The first point of contact for healthcare in the UK is provided by GP’s, General Practitioners. These are doctors who are trained and experienced in diagnosing a wide range of health problems. •    Pharmacy (chemists)

The Accident and Emergency department is only for very serious urgent medical conditions or accidents. Your GP will refer you for other hospital care if required.

Out Of Hours, a cooperative of GPs and nurses will offer advice and treatment. They are contactable on 464242. An answering service will take your details and you will be phoned back by a doctor
