Constipation
Constipation
This is common problem, which affects more people as they get older.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t go to the toilet each day, it is more important that the motions are soft.
Some prescribed drugs can be the cause of constipation.
Prevention
• Drink plenty of fluids
• Eating fibre such as brown bread, wholemeal pasta and bran
• Eating plenty of fruit and vegetables

• Exercising
You can get over the counter treatments, called laxatives to help manage constipation but you shouldn’t use them on a regular basis. Please make an appointment to discuss with either the practice nurse or doctor.
